Welcome!
We are very happy to have you as part of The Play and LearnCenter family. We strive to provide the very best in childcare. In order for us to meet the needs of the children and the center staff, we ask you to assume the following responsibilities:
1. Please drop off and pick up your child as close to your scheduled time as possible. Preschool begins at 8:30 and ends at 11:00 and nap/rest time is from 11:45-2:00. Dropping off in the middle of these times is disruptive to the programs.
2. Please bring your child into the classroom and make sure his/her teacher(s) see you.
3. Please return your monthly calendar at the beginning of each month indicating the days and times your child will attend. (The calendar will be on a different colored paper each
month.)
4. Please call if your original schedule is altered or your child is ill. This is important for staff and food planning. Our telephone number is 788-4005.
5. Please sign your child in and out each day. At the end of the week, please sign the signature column of the sign-in sheet to verify that the hours listed are the hours your child
attended.
6. For the safety of your child and the other children, please do not allow your child to run around the building unattended when dropping off and picking up. If you have older children who come with you when dropping off or picking up, we will expect them to follow our playground and classroom rules as well.
7. Due to insurance reasons, the playground is closed when the Center is closed.
8. Please have your child leave all candy, gum, and toys at home. Of course, toys are welcome on “Show and Tell” days (the teachers will inform you of these days).
9. Please dress your child in appropriate clothing for the day and weather. We believe daily outside play promotes good health (even in the winter). Please put names on all clothing (a lot of items are identical). Please send a complete change of clothes as accidents sometimes happen (another child may spill something on your child).
10. Around 2 years of age, children should start working on doing things for themselves. When dropping off, please encourage your child to take his/her outside clothes off and hang them up.
11. Shoes or slippers will need to be worn indoors at the Center. Please remember to send a pair of shoes or slippers in the winter as big boots are not comfortable to wear all day.
12. Please notify us (in writing, if possible) if anyone different will be picking up your child.
13. Please read carefully and follow your contract and pay your bill on time, as our budget is tight.
14. If you wish the staff to dispense any medication, a form must be filled out. All medication must be provided in the original container. (We prefer that medication be given at home, but will dispense it at the center when it is absolutely necessary.)
15. Your child will need to bring a blanket and pillow (if he/she uses a pillow) for rest time. These items will need to be taken home on Fridays for washing and returned the following
week.
16. Children still in diapers will need to bring one refill pack of baby wipes each month as well as an ample supply of diapers.
17. LUNCH – Please be sure lunch is nutritious. An example would be:
Protein (sandwich, soup, etc.)
Vegetable or Fruit (or both)
Milk or 100% Fruit Juice
Dessert (optional) one only (no gum or candy)
18. A volunteer board of directors runs the center. They hold monthly meetings on the 1st Monday of each month in the evening and you are encouraged to attend these meetings. (All board meetings are noted on your monthly calendar.) This is when important decisions are made concerning the center and we value parents’ participation. You do not need to be a board member to attend.
We hope your experience with us will be a happy one. If a problem should arise, please bring it to our attention right away.
